The Hobbit preview

Peter Jackson has confirmed that actors Orlando Bloom and Elijah Wood will return to the big screen as Legolas and Frodo in the up coming ‘Lord of the Rings’ prequels, ‘The hobbit: The Unexpected Journey’ and ‘The Hobbit: There and back again’

The two films are currently been filmed back to back in New Zealand, ready to be released in December 2012 and December.

They are two films that Lord of the Rings fans are sure to get excited about, with both titles coming from author JRR Tolkien, who was an English scholar, a professor at Oxford and author of the ‘The Lord of the Rings’ trilogy.

As well as Orlando Bloom and Elijah Wood, other cast members coming back from ‘The Lord of the Rings’ trilogy will be Sir Ian McKellen as Gandalf, Andy Serkis as Gollum, Hugo Weaving as Elrond, Cate Blanchett as Galadriel, Christopher Lee as Saruman and Ian Holm as the elder Bilbo, with new additions to the cast including Martin Freeman has hobbit Bilbo Baggins, Spooks’ Richard Armitage s dwarf leader Thorin Oakenshield, Stephen Fry as the master of Laketown and James Nesbitt as dwarf Bofur.

The cast is sure to impress ‘Lord of the Rings fans with some forums already having been set up to discuss their beloved prequels. One fan told film forum MUBI, “I’m really excited about it. Martin Freeman seems like a perfect choice to play Bilbo. He has a lot of the same mannerisms and that sarcastic sense of humor”.

It has been 9 years since ‘The lord of the Rings, the return of the King’ was last made, with ‘The Hobbit: An unexpected journey’ expected to be released in December 2012, however with director Peter Jackson having to over come a stomach ulcer as well as major union disputes, funding problems at MGM, the studio making the film, and a fire that destroyed a number of vital miniatures, many would believe that Peter Jackson has done very well to be able to get the film out as soon as 2012!!

The action of ‘The Hobbit: An unexpected Journey’ is going to centre on Baggins, who is dragged into an adventure with Gandalf and a company of dwarfs, where they have to travel to the Lonely mountain, where an incredible dragon, Smaug, sleeps on a lair which used to be a great dwarf kingdom!

Talented screenwriter Fran Walsh is again working with Jackson, after working with him on ‘The Lord of the Rings’ trilogy to turn The Hobbit novels into the best scripts they can be to make the tough transition from book to movie!

With Walsh writing and Jackson directing, it is sure to have a lot of publicity around the time of the release and it is sure to catch the eye of all Lord of the Rings fans around the globe, the question is however, will it match up to the famous trilogy, which won an incredible 17 Oscars between the 3 films.
